New Recruit Bolsters LCP's In-House Legal Team

LCP, the national commercial property and investment company, has increased its in-house capacity with the permanent recruitment of Elizabeth Alabaster as legal counsel.

Liz was initially appointed on a temporary contract, but as transaction levels started to rise due to occupiers' growing appetite for more space, the role has now been made permanent to enable the team to meet demand.

Liz joins the existing department of six lawyers and four assistants, who are spread across LCP's West Midlands, London and Glasgow offices, and she will work closely with the company's asset and property managers, taking on responsibility for all legal aspects of a designated portfolio of assets while providing strategic advice to the business.

Amy James, head of legal (UK) and LCP's legal director, said: "Despite challenging times for commercial property owners during the pandemic, last year saw our in-house legal team's transaction rate increase by nearly 20%, with a 30% increase in the number of new leases, lease renewals and disposals that were completed.

"As LCP's strategy of investing in local convenience retail parades continues, we need to further support the business by providing additional, high quality in-house legal expertise.

"Liz has a wealth of experience as a commercial property lawyer, having previously worked at Eversheds Sutherland and Gowling WLG, and I am looking forward to working closely with her as her in-house career progresses here."
