Spar To Open New Store In Rochdale
A new SPAR convenience store is opening its doors this week in Rochdale after a franchisee signed a 20-year lease for unit 1, Mayfield Parade, Albert Royds Street.
Opening on Friday (September 29) at 3pm, the new 3,437 sq ft store will offer a comprehensive range of convenience products to and will employ up to 15 local people giving the store a true community feel.
The new SPAR store is owned by the Uppal family who also have five other SPAR stores across the Greater Manchester and Cheshire area.
Paul Uppal said: "We are excited to bring our fantastic convenience retail offer to Rochdale with the opening of our sixth SPAR store. It has been many months in the planning but we cannot wait for the big day.
"Our final preparations are being made and we have a great afternoon of activities lined up for customers on our opening day. These include free goody bag giveaways, a face painter for children, and much more."
Rakesh Joshi, LCP Director for Leasing (Midlands), said the letting is the final piece in the jigsaw, with all five units now fully let.
"Mayfield Parade is a popular convenience parade in a large residential area, so having a SPAR on the doorstep is great news for local people. We welcome Paul and his family to the parade and wish them all the best as they begin trading."
Agent on the deal was Richard Webster from Newns Webster, while LCP's in-house solicitor Neil Harrison completed the transaction.
