New Rum Bar For Royton Shopping Centre

A Royton shopping centre is now fully let after a new rum and cocktail bar signed up to open there, national commercial property and investment company LCP has announced.

Arumba aims to open in unit 2 of Royton Shopping Square, on Rochdale Road, in the Oldham town, by the beginning of November after agreeing

a 10-year lease with LCP, which manages the centre on behalf of Sheet Anchor Investments Ltd..

Jagdish Patel, who is transforming the former Coral bookmakers unit into a sophisticated bar that can accommodate up to 140 people, says he anticipates the good location will help to attract clients looking for something a little different for an evening out.

"The site is a front-facing unit on a main road of Royton shopping centre, with other business from food to travel agents, weekly local markets and also other bars, which will complement our business and we believe ours will complement theirs," he said.

"We are undergoing a full refurbishment and we envisage a very successful business and hopefully would like to expand in other areas once we have established ourselves in the market."

Once open, Jagdish hopes to employ up to 12 members of staff.

Rakesh Joshi, LCP Lettings Director and the Asset Manager for the site, said: "The shopping centre is thriving, with a great mix of local operators and national high street names. It's good to see a local entrepreneur bring something a little different to Royton and we're looking forward to working with the new tenants."

Royton Shopping Centre occupies a prominent roadside location fronting the A571 Rochdale Road and the B6195 Middleton Road. A well established centre in the suburb, it is anchored by Co-operative Food Store and Boyes and occupiers include Card Factory, Specsavers and Ladbrokes.

There is also a free car park for shoppers that can accommodate 40 vehicles.
