M Cwmbran Security Duo Take on Charity Hike for Alzheimer’s Support
“This was a wonderful effort by Karl and Robbie and the overwhelming support from our tenants truly shows the strong community spirit we have here at M Cwmbran. We are incredibly proud to support their personal dedication to such an important cause like the Alzheimer's Society.”
A long-standing tradition turned into a successful charity drive this year, as two dedicated security officers from M Cwmbran raised £900 for the Alzheimer's Society through an annual coastal walk.
Karl Evans and Robbie Watts, security guards for Westgrove in one of LCP, part of M Core, shopping centres, completed a 10-mile trek from Tenby, marking the tenth consecutive year they have undertaken the journey. Inspired by the need to support a vital cause, the officers dedicated this years walk to raising funds for the Alzheimer’s society.
Alongside generous donations and sponsorships from LCP and Westgrove, the pair also organised a charity raffle at M Cwmbran that saw overwhelming donations and participation from tenants across the site, with businesses like HMV, H.Samuels and The Perfume Shop also contributing prizes towards the raffle.
Julie Williams, Soft Service Manager for Westgrove at M Cwmbran, adds: “This was a wonderful effort by Karl and Robbie and the overwhelming support from our tenants truly shows the strong community spirit we have here at M Cwmbran. We are incredibly proud to support their personal dedication to such an important cause like the Alzheimer's Society.”
Karl and Robbie said: “We feel really proud and very grateful to everyone that supported us. It was a tough hike but we continued to remember what and who we were walking for - a tribute to those who can no longer make this journey, and a promise that their memory will always outlive the disease.”.
