First food outlet opens at the Concourse Kitchen

12/11/2018

The Concourse Centre in Skelmersdale has welcomed its first tenant to its newly opened new street food court.

J.O.Cs opened at the Concourse Kitchen and will be serving a range of delicious light bites, including jacket potatoes, New York-style hotdogs, Buffalo chicken wings and salads.

Owner Richard Jollands said he was keen to set up in the Centre, which is owned and managed by Skelmersdale Limited Partnership, to increase the diverse food offering and to complement his business, called Jolland’s Outdoor Catering.

“I set up my outside catering business six months ago and as soon as I heard about the Concourse Kitchen, I knew it would be right for me,” he said. “It is the perfect complement, enabling me to cater daily for the wider public on as well as do my special events. I’m thrilled to have opened and believe this will be a great asset for shoppers and visitors alike.”

The double-fronted 1,597 sq ft unit, which overlooks the centre’s grounds, comprises four affordable food outlets and seating for approximately 40 diners.

Concourse centre manager Gary Mitchell said it had been created to make it as easy as possible for operators to set up business and start trading quickly with very little upfront cost.

“The street food concept is hugely popular at the moment and it’s all about informal dining in a relaxed and friendly environment,” he said.

“We so pleased to see that J.O.Cs has opened at the Concourse Kitchen and hope he will soon be joined by other local food operators who want to set up their own operation here in the Centre.”

Each kiosk is 68 sq ft and has its own water, drainage and electricity supplies and is secured with shutters.  Concourse Kitchen will be open throughout the normal centre trading hours
